One Community....Many Voices
On Thursday, February 12th, the Unionville Administration and School Board hosted a Community Conversation led by Nancy Mohr, Executive Director of Chester County 2020. The conversation was made possible by a grant from Senator Pileggi to Chester County 2020. In addition, Herrs Foods graciously donated potato chips for the bagged dinner provided to each participant.
Over 100 community members registered for the event including parents, non-parent taxpayers, students, business leaders and municipal leaders. Representative Ross was also in attendance. Each participant was given a table assignment in addition to a packet with a strip of dot stickers. After adding to a list of issues generated by earlier community discussions, participants were asked to identify the six highest priority issues by placing their dots on the items they felt were most important. Finally, Nancy assigned topics to each table for discussion and asked that each group complete a report based on their issues.
At the conclusion of the discussion period each table presented their reports to the entire group. All of the tables presented great ideas, action items and potential barriers to take into consideration when working toward solutions. Each table submitted summaries of their presentations to Nancy for inclusion in a final report.
Chester County 2020 will be providing a report of the evening within six weeks. In addition to each participant receiving a copy of the report, the Chester County 2020 will also provide a printable file which will be available through the Chester County 2020 website at: www.cc2020.org.
Thanks to Nancy Mohr and all the participants for an evening of cooperation, discussion and collaboration to identify how the district can better serve all members of our community.
