UHS Students Win District 12 Orchestra Seats
The PMEA District 12 Orchestra audition on Saturday, December 13th was a great success. Some might think that the successful event could be partially credited to the fact that the event was hosted by Unionville High School lending the students a certain level of confidence due to their familiar surroundings. However, we can appreciate the hard work and determination that led 4 of our students to be awarded top scores earning them District 12 Orchestra seats. District 12 has always been known to be a rather difficult district to compete in due to the fact that it is a big district and includes the schools in Delaware, Chester and Philadelphia counties, so our students did very well indeed!
The official rankings of the audition are as follows:
District 12 String Instruments:
Amanda Chou placed 3rd for 1st violin while one of her twin brothers, Christopher Chou, placed 5th seating for Cello.
District 12 Woodwind & Brass Instruments rankings are listed below:
Craig Johnsen placed 1st chair for the french horn category while Tim Wang also placed 1st chair for the bassoon category.
The District 12 orchestra seat winners will move on to participate in the Regional Orchestra in March which is being hosted by Oxford High School, from there the top seating members will then move on to All States Orchestra, and All Eastern Orchestra. Congratulations to all four students, your hard work and determination has really paid off!
