UCFSD Preliminary Budget Presented to the School Board

On Monday, May 4th, district administration presented the preliminary budget to the School Board at the annual budget hearing. Recognizing the current and short-term national economic outlook, the budget has no new staff positions and reflects a conservative revenue outlook. The presentation also outlined some of the many cost-cutting initiatives the district is putting in place to reduce costs and raise revenue from alternative sources. Discretionary or non-essential spending has been curtailed. Travel expenses, conference attendance and meals for meetings have all been reduced considerably. The energy management program has been restarted in an effort to reduce costs associated with operation of our facilities.

In an effort to find other funding sources, the district has also stepped up its efforts at grant-writing. The proposed final budget will be presented on May 11 at 7pm at the School Board Work Session, and approved on June 15 at 7:30 at the regular School Board meeting at Pocopson Elementary School.
