On March 11, School Board Members, district administration met with community members to gather input regarding the Unionville High School renovation and expansion project and its financing. The district would like to thank Mrs. Nancy Mohr, of Chester Conty 2020, for her capable facilitation of the meeting. The majority of the time was spent in gathering questions or issues that the district would answer by posting s on the UCFSD web site. referendum before voters on April 22, 2008...
This board action would reduce the burden on taxpayers by asking them to authorize the district to borrow up to 30 million dollars, less than half of the original 62.5 million dollar cost. The remaining expense would be realized through district operating funds.
In other words, the district will ask voters to approve 30 million dollars above the budgetary limits set by Act 1, leaving the rest to be funded under the limit. The amount under the limit would have to come from trimming operating costs by a small percentage each year.
For community members who wish to contact the district regarding the project or its financing, please send your comments to uhsbuild@ucfsd.org by email or by US mail at: UCFSD District Administration, 740 Unionville Rd, Kennett Square, PA 19348, Attn: UHS Building Project.
The formal language of the referendum is:
Shall debt of Unionville-Chadds Ford School
District, Chester and Delaware Counties,
Pennsylvania, be authorized to be incurred as debt
approved by the electors in the sum of up to Thirty
Million Dollars ($30,000,000) for the purpose of
