Star Reporter

***All dates are subject to change!  If this particular week disrupts your schedule, please let me know ahead of time so we can arrange a trade with another child.

Your child will receive the “Star Reporter” folder on the Friday before he/she is to be the reporter.  This folder will include all of the information and materials your child needs to be a successful reporter.  Here is a summary of how it works:

*Monday-Backyard News:  The reporter will present information such as: activities they enjoy, who is in their family, etc.

*Tuesday-Local News:  The reporter will present a piece of local news from the newspaper, magazine, or from the televised news.

*Wednesday-National News:  The reporter will present a piece of national news from the newspaper, internet, a magazine, or from the televised news.

*Thursday-World News:  The reporter will present a piece of world news from the newspaper, internet, a magazine, or from the televised news.

Guidelines

1.  The news must be current news.

2.  All news must be positive, happy news!

3.  This can be a family activity.  The children will need help choosing an article

     and understanding the language.

4.  Please have your child bring in the article if the news is from a magazine or

newspaper.  They should have a written or oral summary prepared.  We are

not talking term papers here!  A few sentences will do!  Please discuss the

who, what, where, when, and how of each piece of news.

We look forward to learning a lot about the world around us from this reporting!  Here are some links to kid news websites:
