If you want to be able to access the assignment you e-mail
to yourself or saved on your disk, flash drive, etc., then you must know -
Word Perfect IS NOT Microsoft WORD
WORD IS NOT WORD!
Be sure you know what program you are using to type your assignment.
If you have a PC, follow these instructions for Word Perfect, microsoft WORKS, or any program that IS NOT Microsoft WORD. Word Perfect is only on 3 computers in the school. They are in the Writing Center. You may reserve one of these computer at anytime.
when working at home in case of that emergency that WILL happen… and if you are working with any Wordprocessing program other than Microsoft Word...
step 1: Save your document as you normally would, (this will allow your computer to read it later).
step 2: save again as a Word doc.
step 3: In order to print at school, in addition to the Word attachment you may want to copy & paste your document into an e-mail (not an attachment) then send it to yourself. This will guarantee that if the attachment doesn't work you will have the document in the body of your e-mail as a back-up.
If you follow these instructions you should prevent the frustrating problem of not being able to open your document and invariably not having an assignment to hand in.
** Microsoft Office 2008 is installed on the Writing Center Computers so you will now be able to open your documents in the Writing Center.
