Beyond the Classroom. Beyond the Ordinary.

In 2026-27, the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District (UCFSD) will again offer its full-day kindergarten experience at Chadds Ford, Hillendale, Pocopson, and Unionville Elementary Schools.

Led by our team of seasoned principals, kindergarten teachers and support staff, our students will excel in Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) academic standards as well as 21st century skills like creativity, connection, and collaboration through an immersive outdoor play-based program.

Kindergarteners will engage in daily instruction in the core subjects of English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies as well as special areas. Wonder will take root as they explore their education through nature on our nearly 140 acres of campuses.

Students will have access to a provided breakfast, lunch, and transportation to-and-from school. Lunch can either be packed from home or purchased at school each day.

UCFSD is pleased to provide comprehensive special education services for students with identified disabilities. In addition, our behavioral health team, including counselors, mental health therapists, psychologists, social workers, and other specialists ensure that each student gets the in-school support they need to succeed.

A Day in the Life of a Kindergarten Student

The following, in no particular order, will make up a student's school day. The day will run from 9:10 a.m. until 3:40 p.m.

  • 30 minutes: Class Meetings
  • 90-120 minutes: English Language Arts (ELA) with Social Studies & Science Integrated
  • 60 minutes: Math with Social Studies & Science Integrated
  • 60 minutes: Active Playful Learning (APL) with Social Studies & Science Integrated
  • 40 minutes: Specials (Rotation of Art, Library, Music, Physical Education, and Technology)
  • 45 minutes: Lunch/Recess
  • 15 minutes: Additional Recess
  • 10 minutes: Snack

Note: Longer blocks of time may be split into multiple sessions. For example, 60 minutes of ELA twice a day rather than a 120 minute block.
