UCFSD Robotics
Robotics inspires students in the pursuit of education and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) through a structured program where kids experience STEM in a creative and fun environment similar to an athletic program, where team spirit and progressive competition stimulates participation aligned with the FIRST®core values of Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition®.
The UCF Robotics currently supports 2nd through 12th grade students in the UCFSD after-school robotics competition programs. We want to grow so please get involved today!
FIRST has three Robotics Programs. UCFSD Robotics supports teams in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) programs. For the 2026-2027 season all programs will focus on challenges inspired by nature.
Students, Parents, and Community volunteers can join us by attending the Spring Robotics Information session organized by experienced robotic teams and adult volunteers that explain how the programs work and how to register on the FIRST Dashboard in mid-June 2026. Reach out at any time to the Robotics Coordinator Mx. Sunyata for more information at the bottom of the page.
The FIRST Dashboard will be closed for maintenance from June 8th through June 15th. 2026-2027 season registration will open later in June.
UCFSD Robotics Team Highlights
Silver Wolves were chosen to represent Pennsylvania in the inaugural U.S. Governor’s Cup in Washington D.C. In advance of the competition the Silver Wolves were featured in District News: Capitol Bound for the Governors Cup. Alongside their alliance partner Desoto Technix representing Mississippi, the Silver Wolves won the U.S. Governor’s Cup. A banner was hung in the UCFSD Robotics Makerspace to honor their accomplishment.
On March 14th and 15th, the district’s FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams: Green Lemons, Flaming Phoenix, Teletubbies, Silver Wolves, and 2 Eyed Illuminati qualified to compete in the 2026 Pennsylvania FTC State Championship. All of the teams that qualified for the State Championship were recognized with a banner hung in the UCFSD Robotics Makerspace.

The Green Lemons' advanced to the Premier Event. The Silver Wolves' received the Think Award and advanced to the FIRST Championship in Huston, Texas.

At the FIRST Championship, the Silver Wolves competed in the Lovelace division sponsored by CrunchLabs, into the playoffs. The Silver Wolves ranked 12th out of 57 teams in the Lovelace division.
Overall there were 1,055 teams, and 19,000 students from 66 countries competing in the FIRST LEGO League, FIRST Tech Challenge, and FIRST Robotics Competition programs.

Kindergarten to 8th grade students: FIRST LEGO League (FLL)
FLL provides Kindergarten to 8th grade students (6 – 14 years old) the ability to start or continue to learn through advanced challenges in real-world problem solving and advanced engineering concepts using the LEGO to compete on a field of missions requiring fully autonomous robot operation.
7th through 12th grade students: FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC)
FTC provides 7th through 12th grade students (12 – 18 years old) further advancement in engineering with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and application of engineering principles in development of the robotics solutions, management of projects, fiscal management and accounting and project management.
Robotics Team Mentors
All teams are run by parent or community volunteers. Without help from many volunteers and team mentors the UCFSD Robotics program would not be possible. We are always looking for more volunteers!
