Academic Competition Teams
Academic activities and competitions are offered to Patton Middle School students annually. Practices are held after school. Most competitions take place during the school day, with the exception of MathCounts, which is held on a Saturday. The activities are listed below:

Best Buddies
Best Buddies is an opportunity for students to make new friends and create an inclusive school environment among students with and without disabilities. Activities include playing sports, crafts, holiday parties, board games, and Special Olympics.
Best Buddies meets during Hawk Time on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. To sign up, see Mrs Hamilton in room 138.
Dances & Mixers
During the school year, we have mixers after school for the 6th graders and evening dances for the 7th and 8th graders. Check our school communication channels for dates!
First Lego League
Guided by adult Coaches, FIRST LEGO League teams research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc., and are challenged to develop a solution. They also must design, build, program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology, then compete on a table-top playing field. Contact ftc.robotics.ucfsd@gmail.com. for more information.
Hawk's Nest
The Hawk's Nest is a welcoming, teacher-supervised learning environment where Patton students may: work with Unionville HS National Honor Society students in a peer tutoring session, collaborate with peers on group projects, organize and participate in peer study groups, and have a quiet place to complete work. Hawk’s Nest is open to all Patton students. See Mrs. Palic for more details.
HawkTV
HawkTV is a daily morning newscast, which is broadcast throughout the school. This entirely student-produced program is comprised of students working both on camera as presenters as well as behind the scenes in the production crew. See Mr. Walsh if you would like to join!
Peer Tutoring
Please stop by the Counseling Office for a request form to schedule an assigned time or request a pass from your teacher to drop in for some help during your Hawk Time.
Science Society
The Science Society is for everyone interested in Science! We will meet once a month after school to discuss science-related competitions, plan local field trips, organize school science events, set up guest speakers and webinars, and more! Click this link to join the Science Society.
StayGold
Stay Gold is Patton’s art and literary magazine. A publication for middle school students to publish original writing and art. StayGold is a place for students to get creative, make things, and express themselves.
Student Council
Student Council elections are held in September each school year. Offices for Student Council are President, Vice President, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, Communications Officer, and Secretary. Eighth graders may run for all offices, while seventh graders may run only for the offices of Vice President, Treasurer, Communications Officer & Secretary. Additionally, each grade level elects six team representatives. Team representatives will attend all Student Council meetings during the Friday club period. Student Council embodies the core principles of Leadership, Community Service, Student Voice and School Spirit.
Yearbook
Want to help create the next, great Patton Yearbook? Then join the Yearbook Club! Meetings will take place on Fridays during club time. Joining this club will make this your Friday club choice for the entire school year. See Mrs. Malone or Mrs. Quinn if you would like to join the Yearbook Club!
