Unionville High School Celebrates Class of 2025 Commencement

On Wednesday, June 4, 328 seniors, surrounded by their families and friends, turned their tassels to become Unionville High School (UHS) graduates in the school’s 102nd Commencement Ceremony.

Throughout the 2024-25 Academic Year, the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District celebrated the community’s extraordinary character in a Kindness Matters campaign. UHS Principal Amy Jenkins commended the graduates for their critical thinking and their compassion for others. “Beyond the grades and accolades, I hope you also remember the moments of connection, empathy and kindness” she began.

Among the Class of 2025 are 55 National Merit Scholars– the largest number in UHS history. The students also completed service projects, not the least of which was raising a record $87,931.33 for the school’s 10th UTHON Anniversary. UTHON funds support Four Diamonds and the fight against childhood cancer.

Among them, approximately 93% will pursue a two- or four-year degree. Others have plans for a career, including one serving in the U.S. military.

UCFSD Senior and Student Board Member Aliz Eujima encouraged her classmates to continue the signature brand of strength in mind and heart that has come to define the Class of 2025. “Today, as we wear our graduation outfit, we put on our caps, our gowns, our tassels, but we also put on opportunity,” she reflected. “We put on our achievements and pride in our accomplishments. We put on our empathy, our kindness and our unique, individual, identities.”

Finally, UCFSD Superintendent John Sanville closed with a message about caring for each other through continued connection. “Twenty years from now, I hope none of you have to accidentally bump into an old friend and wonder where the time went,” he said. “Instead, I hope you're celebrating how your friendships evolved and grew because you understood something powerful at 18 years old—that people and relationships are worth tending to, even when life gets busy.”

For now, school’s out for Summer. UCFSD looks forward to welcoming all for their first day of 2025-26 on Monday, August 25.
