Continuity of Education Plan for Remote Learning

Dear UCFSD Families,

We hope you and your family have had a wonderful summer. We are excited to begin a new school year and we look forward to partnering with you to make this a great learning experience for your child(ren).

The updated Unionville-Chadds Ford Continuity of Education Plan is attached or can be viewed here. The plan is to be implemented during the remote learning period from September 8 until October 8. October 9 is an in-service day for staff. Administration, with the support and guidance of staff, parents, board members and outside experts, is working on how school will look after October 9. We are hoping we can have in-person instruction, in possibly a hybrid format, in October. This topic will be discussed at the School Board Work Session on September 14.

The Continuity of Education Plan has been developed by administrators and teachers working together to incorporate what we learned from the spring as we experienced remote teaching and learning. The plan also incorporates the recommendations derived from the May 2020 survey data from parents, students and staff.

This document includes important information including student schedules, instructional guidelines, and attendance expectations. Also, at the end of the document are links to videos from each principal reviewing the key features of student schedules. These videos will help parents and students understand the specific details related to the schedule.

The Continuity of Education Plan provides a strong roadmap on how to move forward during this remote learning period. However, as we move into September, we may need to modify and adjust the plan based on stakeholder feedback. Any adjustment will be communicated to all families.

We hope you and your child(ren) have a great start to the school year. Please feel free to reach out to your building principal or us through email or phone if you have questions regarding the Continuity of Education Plan or other topics related to the start of school.

Best Regards,

John Nolen
Assistant Superintendent
