Mr. Josh Leight and Mrs. Rachel Lomas to Serve as Directors of Human Resources and Pupil Services
Following Board approval on Monday, April 20, the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District (UCFSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of two key leaders to its administrative team. Mr. Josh Leight has been named the Director of Human Resources and Mrs. Rachel Lomas has been named the Director of Pupil Services.
“It is an exciting day of growth for our District,” said Superintendent Tim Hoffman in an email to the community.
The Director of Human Resources
Mr. Leight, currently the Principal of Hillendale Elementary School (HES), will transition into this newly envisioned role for the District, overseeing staff recruitment, development, and retention, while also serving as the District’s Title IX Coordinator.
Before joining the District at HES in 2021, Leight’s professional journey included tenures as both an elementary teacher and principal in the Penn-Delco School District. He holds an undergraduate degree in Sociology/Social Psychology, a Master’s in Teaching, Learning, and Technology, and an Administrative Certification. Leight is a K-12 Education Leadership Coach with CRA Admired Leadership and is currently earning his Ed.D. and Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility.
To ensure a smooth transition for the Husky community, Leight will remain at Hillendale through the end of the 2025-2026 school year. A collaborative search for a new principal is now underway.
The Director of Pupil Services
Mrs. Rachel Lomas, who has served as the Interim Director of Pupil Services since this fall, has been selected to fill the role permanently. She will continue to provide leadership in the areas of special education, gifted education, and health services.
Previously, Lomas served as the CCIU’s Preschool Special Education Supervisor, Supervisor on Assignment at UCFSD, Service and Transition Coordinator, and Special Education Teacher. She holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, a Master’s in Elementary and Special Education, a certification in Special Education Supervision, and her Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility.
A committee of representatives from across our District interviewed Lomas for the position. In addition to her proven experience leading teams of service coordinators, special education teachers, school psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, they expressed praise for the relationship-centered approach Rachel has already modeled with the people at the center of our Pupil Services programs.
Before joining UCFSD, Lomas spent 18 years at the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU), where she held various roles including Preschool Special Education Supervisor and Service and Transition Coordinator. In her permanent role, she will continue to lead the District’s teams in special education, gifted education, and health services. Mrs. Lomas holds a Master’s in Elementary and Special Education and her Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility.
