Sixteen Unionville High School Students Named National Merit Finalists

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recently announced that 16 Unionville High School (UHS) students have been named National Merit Scholarship Finalists. The National Merit Scholarship Program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

“These students exemplify all standards of the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District’s Portrait of a Graduate. Not only do they excel academically, but they are also dedicated to their character and to making Unionville High School a school of excellence” reflected Principal Dr. Amy Jenkins. “We congratulate them on this distinguished honor and look forward to witnessing their continued success as they embark on their next journey.”

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for scholarships in which students are first entered by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, Semifinalists must then fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. This includes providing information about their academic record, activities, leadership abilities and awards received.

Finalists were selected from over 16,000 Semifinalists and at UHS include April Chou, David Hendrix, Bridget Hoban, Grace Jiang, Steffanie Jones, Emily Ran, Marguerite Richardson, Sreyas Sai, Adhavan Satish, Luke Stokes, Arjun Suryawanshi, Michael Ta, Cherry Wu, Sreevarshini Yedida, Lilly Zhang and Esther Zhou.

National merit scholarship winners will be selected from all Finalists and without regard to gender race, ethnic origin or religious preference.
