Yesterday Governor Wolf and Secretary of Health Levine provided supplemental information for public schools across the Commonwealth regarding COVID-19 response. The order provides us with additional guidance, responsibility, and autonomy in determining how to keep our students and staff safe and continue in our current instructional model. We appreciate the work and support of the Governor and Secretary in these challenging times.
Since the beginning of the pandemic - our district has been committed to following the mandates, guidance and recommendations made by both the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Chester County Health Department. We will continue in our support of these two organizations as we move forward. Additionally, our weekly meetings with our medical expert, Dr. Sulieman, help inform our decision making.
Based on yesterday’s guidance - UCF will remain in our hybrid instructional model for grades K through 5 and continue in our virtual mode in grades 6 through 12 (with further discussion at the December 7 Board meeting). In order to comply with Secretary Levine’s order - Mr. Hellrung - UCFSD Board President and I have filed an attestation with the Pennsylvania Department of Education assuring that UCF will continue to follow all guidance and orders made by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as it relates to K-12 schools and COVID-19. It is an assurance that we are confident that we will all follow the required mandates. We are happy to make this commitment to keep our students, staff, and community safe.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I look forward to seeing everyone - in person and virtually - on Monday, November 30.
