Update to CCHD Masking Guidance - #35

Dear UCFSD Community,

Since the beginning of COVID-19, we have anchored ourselves on the Chester County Health Department (CCHD) guidance.  We do this in order to keep our students and staff safe. Yesterday afternoon the CCHD updated its guidance including changes to the masking orders.  The new guidance around masking states:

Any staff or student engaging in high exertion OUTDOOR activities, including but not limited to, athletics, exercise or play activities, is NOT required to wear masks when actively engaged in those activities.

The immediate impact of this new guidance will apply to outside recess, outside physical education classes, outdoor sports, and any other outdoor activities that fit the CCHD’s criteria.  Of course, we will continue to follow our layered mitigation measures including social distancing. This change will go into effect here at UCFSD on Monday, May 10, 2021.  If you have any questions regarding what activities qualify for unmasking under this new guidance, please contact your building principal.

We are also considering other aspects of our health and safety plan that could change based on Governor Wolf’s recent announcement to lift mitigation orders effective May 31, 2021.  Over the past year we have all learned to be flexible when change comes - this is certainly another example. Please stay tuned for further details.

Thank you for your continued cooperation as we work to keep everyone safe.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Kind regards,

John Sanville
