Dear UCFSD Community,
We continue to monitor COVID-19 conditions and review our Health and Safety Plan. Our recent ThoughtExchanges, Community Conversation and survey have given us insight into what is most important to our community. The number one response throughout all of our community engagement efforts was to maintain in-person instruction and safely keep kids in school - and that is our priority as well.
The Chester County Health Department (CCHD) released new guidance for school districts regarding contact tracing and quarantining. Effective today, school districts are no longer authorized to conduct contact tracing or issue CCHD quarantine letters.
Therefore, effective immediately, UCFSD will discontinue contact tracing and the process of identifying close contacts for quarantine. Additionally, communications to close contacts and classrooms of individuals who test positive for COVID-19 will no longer be sent to families. Any individual who was placed on quarantine prior to today must complete the full quarantine period before returning to school.
Staff and families should continue to work directly with your school nurse to report positive COVID-19 test results. All individuals who test positive for COVID-19 still need to isolate per CCHD and CDC guidance and are strongly urged to notify any close contacts themselves. We will continue to update our COVID-19 Dashboard on our Health and Safety website daily.
In-person education, even in times of significant community transmission is critical - this new guidance will reduce the excessive burden on our staff and families and keep kids in school.
Please remember, anyone who does not feel well should stay home and get tested. The district is still offering on-site COVID-19 testing - click here for more information. Thank you for your continued support.
