Volunteer Opportunities
All exterior doors are locked during the school day. Visitors must enter through the main office doors at the front of the building. While in the building, please do not make unannounced visits to your child’s classroom.
The Unionville-Chadds Ford School District (UCFSD) encourages parent and community volunteerism in our schools and district. We have very active Parent-Teacher Organizations (PTOs) in each school, which provide tremendous support to our students, staff, and school communities. We are very appreciative of the time and resources our volunteers put in!
There are two types of volunteers at UCFSD, Position and Guest Volunteers.
Position Volunteers
Position Volunteers have:
- Have regular and repeated contact with students and/or
- Are responsible for the supervision, guidance, or control of children.
Position volunteers are required to complete the UCFSD Volunteer Application and have their clearances on file with UCFSD.
Examples of Position Volunteer roles requiring clearances include:
- Homeroom parents,
- Field trip chaperones,
- Tutors,
- Coaches,
- Activity advisors,
- Recess or library aides,
- Choreographers, musicians, and other individuals who provide instruction to students in Marching Band or the School Musical.
Clearances must be dated within one year of the start date of volunteering and are good for five years, at which time they need to be renewed.
Guest Volunteers
Guest Volunteers work directly under the supervision of a school administrator, a teacher, or another member of the school staff and do not have direct volunteer contact.
Guest volunteers are required to complete the UCFSD Volunteer Application only.
Examples of Guest Volunteer roles not requiring clearances include those who:
- Assist in classroom celebrations, school assemblies, and school concerts
- Read to students,
- Collect tickets at sporting events,
- Work concession stands, and
- Participate in “Career Days.”
All Volunteer Applications must be submitted to your school office.
For more details, please see UCFSD Policy 916 (Volunteers).
Volunteer Clearance Instructions
All parent visitors and volunteers must sign in and out at the main office upon entering the building. All schools are using the Raptor Visitor Management System. When visitors, volunteers, or contractors check-in, they will be asked to present a valid state-issued ID for entering into the system. A visitor’s badge will be given and must be worn while in the building.
